dentcarepoor.jpgThere is a good chance that Americans who are below the poverty level are not getting proper dental care. Most of these people cannot even afford proper health care and this has dental experts worried for there are signs that it is getting worse. The problems that have rocked the country’s health care system is rippling through all aspects of health care and sadly, dental care is one of those areas which are greatly affected. There are a huge majority of dentists refuse to treat patients who are on MedicAid simply because the return of revenue for them is longer and complicated with all the paper work and government red tape that has to be surpassed. They simply deny services without taking into consideration that they need immediate dental care. Most children who can’t afford dental care go through life with damaged teeth which affects self-esteem and other social interactive skills. The aim now is to get care to those who need it most like efforts by the ADA with their American Children’s Dental Health Month which is aimed to raise awareness for parents and lawmakers alike. Hopefully we stir them up enough that people demand their lawmakers for better more promising laws that aim to solve the problem.
